The Jefferson, Portland, Oregon
Project Architect: Will Ullman
Architect of Record: Vallaster & Corl Architects
The Jefferson is an 83,000-square-foot mixed-use development situated on a prominent intersection and traffic circle in the heart of Goose Hollow. It features a diverse range of residential units, live/work lofts, a corner retail space, and two levels of parking.
The building's bold, contemporary design embraces its prominent location while seamlessly integrating with the scale and character of the surrounding neighborhood. To achieve this, The Jefferson is divided into two distinct volumes, each with a unique yet complementary expression:
- A linear volume facing Jefferson Street, characterized by alternating horizontal window patterns.
- A vertical volume facing 18th Avenue, featuring a tall, narrow form.
Both volumes are bisected by a glass-enclosed, recessed residential entry and elevator lobby.
