Happy Market Grocery & Deli

The Happy Market Grocery Store and Deli was commissioned by a local business owner who had been operating within a small house on Glisan Street in Northeast Portland for several years and needed a new commercial building that would be tailored to his needs and suitable for his thriving business.  The project was fairly complicated due to his requirement to keep the house on the lot and to build the new structure so that it could serve as “phase one” of a future full-site mixed-use development.

The new building is approximately 1750 square feet and includes a grocery store, deli service counter, full commercial kitchen, storage room and office.  One wheelchair accessible restroom is also included.

Lockwood Carhart exceeded our client’s expectations and delivered a design that was simple, practical, and met his tight budget requirements.  We are looking forward to designing the phase two development in the near future and building on this strong client relationship.
